This Wagyu beef from Japan has a rich umami flavor that’s the result of science - and care. Farmers feed female Japanese black cattle on a special feed for months. These cattle have given birth, so they are slightly older than normal. This naturally gives their meat a rich flavor. Add months of special feed and the result is wagyu beef that does not need aging - it naturally has a unique, rich umami flavor.

The only free-grazing cattle in Japan, Kokuou black Wagyu cattle are rare. The name “Koku” means “delicious”, while “ou” is “Emperor”. With a higher percentage of mono-unsaturated fat than any other breed, this luxury beef is known for exceptional marbling and tenderness..
